Talking Communities is a programme designed to help people connect with others in groups on the telephone and online.
Telephone Communities are set up so they are as easy to take part in as possible.
Groups meet on the phone fortnightly or weekly for an hour, at an agreed time. Each group has a facilitator – a trained volunteer who starts the discussion and supports group members to take part.
Before each session, an experienced operator calls each of the group members, including the facilitator; they are then connected to the discussion.
Some of our groups are for general socialising – people chat or choose a topic to discuss each week. Other groups have a specific focus such as health and well-being or bring people together because they have something in common – even if they have never met in person.
Telephone Communities are free to take part in. There is no charge made to your telephone bill.
